Melissa began playing football with her local Co Longford club Ardagh United. In 2021 she made the short move to Athlone Town. During her two seasons at Lissywoolen, Melissa made 28 appearances in all competitions as they finished runners-up in both league and cup competitions.

A move to the capital then followed as Melissa secured a place at Dublin City University where she studies Primary Teaching alongside playing her football at Rovers. Melissa has represented the Republic of Ireland at underage level.
