Introducing Richie Carroll: Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) for Shamrock Rovers

The role of a Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) is pivotal, serving as the bridge between the fans and the core operations of the club. Their mission is clear: to ensure fans enjoy a great match night experience, both at home and away.

This position, first conceived of in Germany, was later adopted by UEFA and incorporated into European football, subsequently becoming a part of the FAI licensing framework. An SLO’s role is distinct from security aspects; their primary duty is to cultivate trust and establish respectful relations by consistently engaging with the entire supporter base.

Richie isn’t a newcomer to this responsibility. A long-time volunteer, Richie has been an integral part of the matchday organisation, both for home and away games. His involvement extends to regular interactions with fellow SLOs, the gardai, event control, and ticketing.
