Shamrock Rovers Football Club is delighted to welcome Darren Molloy as Academy Head of Coaching. Darren spent 10 years working in full time football mainly within the academy system in the England across a number of roles at clubs such as Southampton, Bristol City and Chesterfield.
Darren commented “I was attracted to the role by the opportunity of working with the most talented players in the country, with facilities which will allow me alongside the staff already in place to create an elite environment for players and coaches with a holistic approach.
It’s an exciting time come in and build on what is already in place and grow the curriculum utilising the expertise of those in the building already. We have a number of full-time staff and I feel a big part of my role is to support them so we can give the players everything they need to achieve their goals.”
Academy Director, Simon Friel, commented “It’s great to appoint Darren into the Academy Head of Coaching role. This is a vital piece of our restructuring at the academy and is key to both player and coach development. This role enables us as an academy to have a more strategic approach to coach development such as having coach development plans, a coach competency framework and continuous professional development throughout the year. Darren’s experience and knowledge of coach and player development will enhance further what we do at the academy and ensure that we continue to give our players and coaches the best platform to succeed.
