Shamrock Rovers F.C. is pleased to announce the signing of Irish Underage International Scarlett Herron. The current Ireland U19 International Player of the Year joins the Hoops from Athlone Town AFC.

Speaking on her arrival at Rovers, Herron said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be signing for Shamrock Rovers. I am looking forward to a new challenge with the club. Rovers provide a very professional environment and have an extremely high calibre of players and coaches which will only help me improve as a young player. I am really excited to get going after the mid-season break.”

Head Coach Collie O’Neill said: “ I am delighted Scarlett has signed for us. She is a player with great potential and will add a different dimension to our team. I am really looking forward to working with her over the next few months.’’

Head of Women’s Football Jason Carey is also very happy to have Herron on board for the rest of the season: “Scarlett has been on our radar for a while, she is a player that is highly committed to becoming better, we feel our environment will help her continue to reach her potential ”.

Bio

Scarlett (18) arrives at the Club having recently been named the Ireland Under 19 International Player of the Year. Hailing from Monaghan, the highly-rated midfielder has represented her country at U19 level, scoring in the recent UEFA European Qualifiers v Norway & Croatia in April.

Scarlett made her Premier Division debut in April 2022 at the age of 17 in Peamount United’s win against Cork City at Greenogue. In July of the same year, she switched Greenogue for Lissywollen and went on to make 32 first-team appearances in the League, FAI Cup & All-Island Cup for the Midlanders, scoring six goals.
