e beat Bohs 2-1 in dramatic style on Monday night. The scenes at the end, on and off the pitch made it a special win, even though it’s only three more points.
“They are special nights, there’s no doubt about that. A Dublin derby, away from home and a goal down. When you get moments like that to celebrate with the fans and the group, that’s really important. It’s why we’re in the game and why we work so hard. It was a really nice evening.”
Our two goals were of the highest quality, in terms of the crosses from Tunmise Sobowale and Dylan Watts and the headers from John McGovern and Enda Stevens.
“They were really high quality. John’s goal is a really good move, if you look at it, we’ve kept the ball, then it’s a great ball from Tunmise. John still had to do a lot, it’s a hell of a header. Then for Enda’s goal, it’s such quality from Dylan off his left foot to leave the ball in that area and you don’t see many better headers than Enda’s, in terms of how he attacked the ball and controlled it.”
Ed McGinty and Adam Brennan joined up with the senior Irish international squad this week. How are they getting on?
“Liam Scales sent through a photograph to Glenn Cronin, Liam is looking after young Adam, which is nice! But both lads will be fine, they’ll go in and do their stuff and enjoy it.”
St Pat’s are next up, we’ve done well against them so far this season, winning both games. Pat’s however are the top scorers in the league (one ahead of ourselves) and also lead the goals conceded table (again one better than us) and in Ryan Edmondson have a striker who has given them a new dimension so he’s one to respect as is their squad.
“Definitely and the key word there is respect. Although we’ve won the two games so far, they’ve been two close games, and we know tomorrow will be the same. We’re coming into it in a really good place and looking forward to it, but we respect Pat’s, they’ve got good players, especially in the attacking part of the pitch.”
How did everyone emerge from Monday and any new injuries?
“Victor Ozhianvuna picked up a back injury which will keep him out for a couple of weeks. Danny Grant also picked up a knock, and we’ll see how he is today. Maleace Asamoah remains out, other than that, everyone else is ok.”
