Rovers confirm transfer of Josh O’Dwyer to Red Bull Salzburg
An agreement has been reached that will see Academy player Josh O’Dwyer move to Austria in July.
Josh has been with Rovers Academy from ten years of age having joined from Leicester Celtic. He turned 16 on St. Patrick’s Day 2026.
Josh performed comfortably in the No. 6, 8 and 10 roles and from time to time was called upon to assist in defence where he proved to equally adept. His early promising form soon attracted interest from a host of top clubs in the UK and in Europe,
Josh was always much taller than the other players in his group and his ability in the air was a huge advantage to his team, scoring lots of goals in the process.
He progressed very quickly at LOI Academy level and appeared for the Hoops’ Under 20 team last year even though he had only turned 15.
An Ireland international, Josh has represented his country at Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17 levels, his most recent appearance coming in the 7-0 defeat of Slovakia that saw Ireland qualify for the FIFA Under 17 World Cup Finals this year.
All at the club wish Josh well and look forward to following his development for club and country.
