Shamrock Rovers F.C. and TU Dublin School of Media are hosting an international conference on women’s football at the TUD Tallaght Campus on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025.
‘Women in Football: Participation, Representation and Futures‘ brings together researchers, journalists, sporting leaders, and players to examine the rapid growth of the women’s game. Topics include fan culture, governance, media representation, player welfare, and the commercial side of football.
Rovers will be well represented, with Tommy Carberry (Head of Shamrock Rovers Girls Academy) and Evan White speaking on developing pathways for female players at the club. The afternoon session features a dedicated panel on supporting players at Shamrock Rovers Women.
Other confirmed speakers include:
- Marie Crowe (RTÉ Sport) and Mark Tighe (Sunday Independent)—the journalists behind the award-winning ‘Girls in Green’ documentary
- Dr Katie Liston, Ulster University
- Emma Wheatley, Rovers Members Club Director, NCI & FAI (Changemakers Initiative)
- Representatives from the UK Football Supporters Association, Irish Football Supporters Partnership, FAI, CONIFA, and the German Football Association
The conference is organised by TU Dublin’s ‘Shamrock Rovers in the Community’ Research Team which is part of an ongoing partnership between the club and TU Dublin’s School of Media.
