Shamrock Rovers have added Luke O’Regan to the first team playing squad as he joins from UCD.

Luke will play on loan with UCD for this first half of the season, but will participate in training sessions with the Hoops alongside UCD.

Head coach, Stephen Bradley spoke to club media about this latest signing:

What was the process of Luke’s signing?

“We’ve been talking to Luke and UCD for some time and also with Ronan Finn and his connection to UCD, Ronan was on top of that one. Luke is a player we have liked for some time and we think he can be a really exciting player for us. So we’re delighted Ronan has managed to get Luke over the line.”

It’s probably fair to say Luke would be relatively unknown to Rovers fans. What’s his position and what are his attributes as a player?

“Luke can play on either wing. He has really strong attributes, especially in the attacking part of the pitch. He will suit how we play and again is another with a really good age profile.”

What was Luke’s pathway to the UCD first team?

“Luke has been with UCD for a number of years. Stephen McPhail and I met Luke and his family some time back. Unfortunately, he picked up a knock last year, but Ronan (Finn) trained with him and knows him well. We’re delighted to get it done.”
