Shamrock Rovers F.C. is delighted to confirm the signing of 26 year old Tunmise Sobowale on loan from St. Mirren ahead of this weekend’s transfer window deadline.

Tunmise will be introduced to the fans at Tallaght Stadium tonight and will commence training with the club tomorrow.

Stephen Bradley had the following to say on the signing of Tunmise Sobowale:

We have signed Tunmise Sobowale from St. Mirren. What was the process that has led him to the club?

“We’ve been talking to his representatives for some time now and in communication with his club. Thankfully, in the last few days, we’ve managed to get it done. Ronan Finn has worked extremely hard in the background and Tunmise is one we’ve targeted for quite some time. So I’m delighted to get it done.”

Tunmise has experience in the League of Ireland so was that a factor in tracking him, that it might see him settle quickly?

“Most definitely, as well as all his other attributes and how he plays. But it was definitely a factor that he has played in the league, he knows the league inside out and that’s really important.”

What are Tunmise’s playing attributes and where do you see him fitting into the group?

“He can play anywhere across the back three, or either of the wingback roles. He suits us really well and has a really good age profile. Stephen McPhail tried to sign him previously before he went to England. We were close, but it didn’t quite happen. But thankfully this time it has happened with Ronan working extremely hard to get it done.”

Is Tunmise ready to go in terms of fitness?

“In terms of fitness and that side of things, he is ready to go. He was in and out of the team at St Mirren but played reserve games also. But like anyone new, he will take a bit of adjusting to how we do things and how we play, but I’d imagine that will happen quite quickly. But Tunmise knows us from playing against us, so that will help.”
