Barry first played for Shamrock Rovers at Under 16 level after he joined the club in 2002. He quickly progressed up to the reserves and became first choice ‘keeper in the first team under Roddy Collins following the examinership process which the Hoops went through in 2005 and after which major adjustments were made to the squad. In 2010 Barry moved across the city to Rovers’ arch-rivals Bohemians and after two years joined St. Patrick’s Athletic. He then re-joined the Hoops for the 2013 season. During the course of the 2014 season Barry surpassed the 200 mark in his record of competitive appearances for the Hoops. SRFC senior Player of the Year for 2005, 2013 and 2014.

He departed at the end of that season to link up with Longford Town and went on to also play for Crusaders in the Irish League before returning south two years ago to join Waterford United. 2015 was his best at Rovers to date having made 20 league appearances. He also kept goal for all four of Rovers’ European games last summer.

He is equally comfortable at left back as he is in the centre of defence. Suffered a set-back on his league debut for the Hoops when he picked up an injury during the game against Derry City that was to see him out of action for six weeks. Although he found it hard at times to nail down a first team place the 2015 season was more rewarding for him with fifteen starts in the league – something he will be aiming to build upon in 2016. Often confused with another player of the same name as having previously played for Shamrock Rovers. Gary’s only previous association with the Hoops is the Northern Ireland Milk Cup of 2009 when he played as a guest for the club. This Gary Shaw had been playing for Newbridge Town before he signed for Bray Wanderers in August 2010. He scored Wanderers’ second goal in the 2-2 draw with the Hoops in the final game of the season – that was a goal that caused a flutter in the hearts of all Rovers’ fans that night as it endured a tense final 20 minutes in a game in which the Hoops needed at least a point (and thankfully got it!) to win their first Premier Division title in sixteen years. Gary moved on to Longford Town for the 2012 season with 2014 being his most rewarding season so far as he enjoyed tremendous form and played a big part in the ‘Town winning the First Division title. Signed for Shamrock Rovers in late 2014.

Exciting young midfielder who joined Shamrock Rovers Under 19s from St. Kevin’s Boys during the summer of 2013. Compared by the then U19 manager Declan Hevey to being in the “Ronan Finn mould”, Cian indeed proved himself to be an influential figure in the middle of the park for the Under 19 team.
