Biography
Club Captain “Pico” joined the club in November 2016 from arch-rivals Bohemians where he spent seven seasons. He made his debut there in 2010 and captained Bohs in 2016. A firmly established fan-favourite, Pico has improved with each passing year since then. He was deservedly chosen by the fans as 2020 Player of The Year and was instrumental in the club’s four-in-a-row league title success.
Lopes continues to break new ground for the League of Ireland on the world stage. Now, a seasoned international with Cape Verde, and the most-capped League of Ireland player ever, he is set to become the first-ever active League of Ireland player to compete at a FIFA World Cup in the summer of 2026. His leadership, aerial dominance, and reading of the game remain indispensable to the Hoops.
