Goalkeeper Alex Noonan has joined Ipswich Town, initially on loan with an obligation to buy. The Ireland underage international came through at Rovers.

Shamrock Rovers F.C. confirms that the club has agreed a deal with Ipswich Town for the transfer of goalkeeper Alex Noonan, initially on loan with an obligation to buy.

Alex began playing football in 2016 when he joined Straffan Celtic. He played as both a goalkeeper and a left-back before settling between the posts. He joined Rovers in 2020 at the age of 12 and played DDSL Under-13 football with the club before progressing to the League of Ireland Under-14s.

Alex made his competitive debut for the first team in the President’s Cup against Derry City at Tallaght Stadium on 31 January 2026.

He made his debut for Ireland at Under-15 level, playing in a UEFA Development Tournament in Italy, and now has 32 underage international appearances to his credit, including some impressive performances at the 2025 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

All at Shamrock Rovers wish Alex the very best of luck with his move to England and will follow his career with club and country with great interest.
