Shamrock Rovers has partnered with FIDEO Global to launch a Financial & Digital Literacy Programme following a successful roll-out of the programme with a the Prampram Youth FC Football Academy in Ghana.
This initiative is supported by Hyundai Ireland as part of its ongoing commitment to community and youth development.
FIDEO, a specialist provider of practical financial and digital literacy education, will spearhead the programme, which will deliver tailored financial education to young players, focusing on real-world decision-making skills including budgeting, digital payments, scam awareness, and responsible use of credit.
The initiative reflects a growing global need for financial capability that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. As money becomes increasingly digital and financial products more complex, young people are facing decisions earlier — often without the practical skills required to manage risk.
FIDEO’s approach is designed to address this gap.
Rather than focusing on theory, the programme uses scenario-based learning, behavioural routines, and real-life decision exercises to build confidence and resilience.
The Ghana Academy pilot demonstrated the effectiveness of this model in a mobile-money-driven environment, where digital transactions are central to daily life.
The Shamrock Rovers programme represents the first European adaptation, tailored to the realities of a developed digital economy, including online payments, fraud risks, and emerging credit products.
Across both pilots, the core objective remains consistent: to equip young people with the habits and judgement needed to make better financial decisions — now and in the future.
FIDEO is also expanding its programme offering beyond youth audiences, with modules designed for young adults, families, and community groups, reflecting increasing demand for financial and digital literacy across all age groups.
Commenting on the launch, FIDEO noted that financial education is increasingly being viewed by regulators and institutions not as an optional add-on, but as a core component of consumer protection and financial wellbeing.
This partnership marks an important step in demonstrating how localised, practical education programmes can be delivered across different markets while maintaining a consistent global standard.
FIDEO expects to build on these pilots to support organisations, communities, and institutions seeking to strengthen financial capability in an increasingly complex financial environment.
The programme starts tomorrow, Friday April 17th, for the Shamrock Rovers TY Academy students and will run for four weeks.
