First Team News

Stephen Bradley gave this update on recent team news and the squad ahead of Saturday’s game at The Showgrounds v Sligo Rovers, kick off 7.45pm.

On Monday’s 1-0 win over St Pat’s:

“It was a good win. I thought we started the game really well in the first half, we played well. The second half had little rhythm to it but we did well to see it out and get the win. We had a knock the week before with the two games and it was important to come back and get points on the board as soon as possible. We did that on Monday.

It was no secret that the Bohs game with the red cards and the injuries coming out of it really hurt us going up to Dundalk. It was great to get the numbers back for Monday night and we’re nearly back to full strength bar one or two. It was a really good goal. Aaron Greene did really well to hold it up, Brandon Kavanagh was bright around the box and a calm finish from Ronan Finn.

We didn’t create as much as we have been in the past few weeks. I think the schedule of games caught up with us a bit in the second half but I thought we still had one or two good chances to kill the game off. .

Any game when it’s 1-0 the opposition are always in with a chance of getting something out of it and Alan Mannus made a great save to make sure we got the three points. That’s why Alan’s a top keeper and he’s there when we need him.”

On Saturday’s game in Sligo:

“It’s going to be a difficult game, Sligo have shown that at home already this year. They’ve won some good games up there and I’m sure there’ll be a big crowd on Saturday. I think the extra day has definitely helped us in terms of recovery, we have bodies back and we’re ready to go and try and win the game. Liam Buckley’s teams always try and play football and that’ll be no different against us.”

Injury Update:

“Sean Kavanagh and Sam Bone are still a bit away.”
