TEAM NEWS: AWAY V ST. PAT’S 12-10-2018

Stephen Bradley gave his thoughts on last week’s game against Cork City and then tonight’s clash at St. Patrick’s Athletic.

Note that tickets are on sale at Richmond Park in advance of kick off at 7.45pm.

Cork City (0-0 draw)

“I thought we deserved to win. Our overall play deserved the three points but we just couldn’t find a goal on the night. We were excellent and I thought was more about us missing chances than Cork defending well. We had two cleared off the line that we should have just burst the net with. We should have been out of sight at half time. A lot of our play was really good and we dominated the game but we just couldn’t get that goal to open it up for us.

We know Aaron Greene will score, he scores goals. He just hasn’t at this moment in time for us but his all round play has been excellent. On Friday he gave the Cork defence nightmares at times, so it’s just a matter of time. We know Dan Carr can play on the wing, he’s played there before. We’ve seen him play a lot there in training so we know he can if need be. We just felt it was a night to try Dan there and I thought he did really well. But in the second half we needed fresh energy and the two Brandons [Kavanagh and Miele] brought that to us.

We didn’t speak about it [European qualification confirmed] really. Nothing has changed from our point of view. We want third place and we have prepared to achieve that over the last three games.

St Pat’s

“I’m sure it’s going to be a tough game. St Pat’s did well up in Dundalk last week and were unlucky not to win the game. Obviously they’re in a bit of transition with Liam Buckley leaving. He’d been there so long and brought a lot of success to that club. There’ll be a bit of change now.

We’ll go there looking to win the game, we’ll be focused. If we play like we did against Cork I’m sure we’ll be fine. You have to have eleven men on the pitch to give yourself the best chance of winning, that’s the same as any game, but our discipline has been excellent this season so I don’t think it [red cards in previous games at Richmond Park] will be an issue.

We have one or two little knocks with Aaron Greene and Brandon Miele so we’ll have a look at them this morning. Joey O’Brien is only back and come through training no problem and the same with Sean Boyd so it’s good to have both of them back available.”
