Shamrock Rovers F.C. announce that Luke Turner from our Under 17 team has joined Scottish side Aberdeen F.C.

Luke, a centre half, had a very successful year in 2017 having joined our Under 15 Airtricity League side managed by Damien Duff. He continued his rapid development this year having moved up to the Under 17s under Stephen Rice.

U17 Head Coach, Stephen Rice said “Luke has been a pleasure to coach this season, his attitude and application toward learning and improving has helped him develop into an exciting prospect. Luke is a really good example of a late developer who kept working at his game even when suffering setbacks. Credit must also go to Luke’s schoolboy clubs for helping him achieve this move.

All the staff – Keith, Pat, Graham. Conor,  Eric, myself and all the Under 17 squad wish Luke every success in his future career with Aberdeen F.C.”

Confident in both the air and with the ball at his feet he demonstrated he was willing to listen and to learn adopting comfortably to the defensive system used by the U17s. Luke’s progression was recognised at international level also with him having being called up for the Republic of Ireland at Under 16 level.

All at the club wish to take this opportunity to wish Luke (age 16) all the best at his new club and for the future.
