Team News ahead of Friday’s game in Turner’s Cross

Cork City v Shamrock Rovers

SSE Airtricity League Premier Division

Friday, May 26th, 2017. Kick off 7:45pm

Speaking to today was Shamrock Rovers head coach, Stephen Bradley:

On the 2-0 win over Galway:

“I thought we deserved the win. Galway were in decent form and going forward they’ll take points off teams. They’re a dangerous team with a lot of pace so it was a good win for us. The first half was slow and that was always going to be the case. I was up watching Drogheda and Bray the other night and it was the exact same, two games in a short space of time do take a bit of the players’ legs and I think you could see that. I thought we were really good then in the second half, upped the tempo and moved the ball a lot quicker. It was a good finish by Gary Shaw and Brandon Miele. Brando looked dangerous every time he got in front of goal.”

“Dave Webster and Pico Lopes are OK. We did a little bit this morning on Webby and he looks fine. Pico did a small bit and we’ll have to work with him again on Friday morning. Paul Corry is obviously out but it’s great to have Ryan Connolly back, considering 6 or 7 weeks ago he was told he’d have to retire. That’s how serious the injury was. He’s back now, he did his treatment and he’s responded really well to it. He’s a proper professional, he’s been out for that length of time and you see how fit he is once he comes back, he’s in great shape.”

“It’s going to be a good game. Cork are obviously flying, they’re top of the league and beating everyone that they come up against. It’s going to be a really tough game, we know that but we just have to go and play our game and try to impose ourselves on them as much as possible and see what happens. We know what Cork are good at and what they’re going to bring so we just have to make sure we show up and bring our good attributes and make a proper game of it. The players are playing with confidence at the moment. We look dangerous going forward, I think you can see that in patches against Derry and especially the second half against Galway so we just have to bring that into tomorrow night.”
