UNDER 19’S v ST. PAT’S PREVIEW
What better way to react to a defeat than to bounce back in style with an impressive win? This is just what the Under 19’s managed to do last Sunday when they beat a highly rated Finn Harps team 3-0 at Tallaght Stadium. In their previous outing the Hoops themselves were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds so it was nice to get back to winning ways and keep their challenge for the league title on track.
“I was very pleased with how we performed and pleased in particular with Adam Walsh, Ryan Dick and Clayton Stafford who all came into the team and showed a great hunger to play”, said manager Declan Hevey. “We had a great response after the Bray game and those three lads seized the opportunity they were given on Sunday.
“It was a very good team performance, our passing was very fluid and the work rate was top drawer. The win put us on the league by two points which was very pleasing for us”.
This weekend’s fixture away to St. Patrick’s Athletic promises to provide all the thrills and spills of a typical Dublin derby. “Pat’s are much improved having started the season off poorly. This game will have the rich vein of a Dublin derby and there will be a lot of personal pride at stake for the players who have competed against each other in the DDSL over the past number of years.
“For me and for Andy Myler it will be a re-acquaintance and it should be an exciting game of attacking football”.
The scheduled kick off time is 12pm this coming Saturday at Richmond Park but this is subject to weather permitting so please check www.shamrockrovers.ie for an update
