|
Rovers moved into third place in the Emerald Futsal League table with an impressive 8-0 win over B & H United. Ian Byrne's hat-trick gave the Hoops control of the tie in what was one of the most comprehensive performances of the season at the Basketball Arena on Saturday October 1st. Byrne opened the scoring in the first half with an excellent low strike after cutting in from the right hand side and playing a one-two with David Nyari. The Irish futsal international made it 2-0 with a brilliant individual goal midway through the second half when he led a break and finished cleverly with his left foot. Jack Doyle was a major asset for the Hoops and created several opportunities for himself and his team-mates but found B & H United keeper Jusuf Advic in good form. Rovers led 2-0 at the break and it was brilliance by Alvin Lawlor that extended that led. He showed great footwork to skip through the visiting defence before firing home. Hoops keeper John Somers had only one major save to make in the second half and he did well to push a shot by Rijad Omuric wide. Byrne completed his hat-trick when he made a good tackle in his own half then beat two opponents before slotting through the legs of keeper Advic. Former Hungarian futsal international David Nyari made it 5-0 with a close range finish after brilliant approach play by Doyle. Doyle then found the target with a classy goal after he took a pass from Reinaldo Grube, flicked the ball past a defender and drilled home. Argentinian ace Nahuel Minazzoli made it 7-0 when he slotted home from close range after taking possession from a Byrne pass. Richard Maher wrapped up the scoring when he led a quick counter before playing a one-two with Rodrigo Lourenco then firing home via a deflection.
