“Our away form last year was excellent, but we’re expecting a very tough game up in Sligo. There’s no doubt about that as no away game is ever easy in this league.

“That’s the way it’s been since I arrived at Rovers and I know that this season will be no different. Having said that, we’re all eager to get going and looking forward to the challenge.”

The 2010 pre-season

“We’re pleased with the way our pre-season has gone and we’re pleased with the players that we’ve brought in. The squad is much stronger than it was last year.

“We would’ve preferred to get some of those players in sooner, but the reality was that we had to wait and see what happened elsewhere before we could sign them.”
