Goalkeeper : Succeeded Russell Payne between the posts at the beginning of the 2005 season. His sharpness in goal and his lighting reflexes made him an instant favourite amongst the Hoops faithful. Having come out of the ranks of Shamrock Rovers Schoolboys in 2004, Barry made rapid progress winning the SRFC Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year for 2005. Goalkeeper : Has followed Pat Scully from Kilkenny City to Shamrock Rovers. Former Lourdes Celtic player who hails from Crumlin. John describes himself as a “player’s player” and says he is ambitious. Made his first team debut away to Galway on June 2nd 2006. Date of birth: 18.03.86.

Stephen O'Brien

Goalkeeper : Well-known goalkeeper in Irish domestic football who joined Shamrock Rovers this year. Stephen has enjoyed a successful career at Shelbourne, Bohemians and Longford Town from where he joined the Hoops. Stephen joined Rovers in a coaching capacity but with John McGuinness on loan to Kilkenny City for a year he is also providing back up to Barry Murphy. Date of birth: 18.01.71.

Ger O’Brien

Full back : Ger formerly lined out with Kildare County having joined them in 2003 from Athlone Town. He missed most of the pre-season campaign last year but once the season began he became a first team regular pretty quickly. He revealed himself to be a tough and uncompromising defender and although he suffered an injury setback in early June he made a quick recovery and picked up where he left off. Aidan Price (Captain)

Aidan reminds Hoops fans of the legendary Peter Eccles in more way than one and if in his time at Shamrock Rovers he enjoys even half the amount of success that Eccles did then he will indeed have done very well for himself. He has begun well though, playing a true leader’s role in captaining the team to an historic First Division title last year and winning the SRFC Player of the Year as an added reward. ‘Aido’ formerly played under Pat Scully when the latter was manager at Kilkenny City. Midfield : Former Cambridge Boys and Home Farm player who spent three years across the water at Derby County. A native of Ringsend, David won an Olympic gold medal with Ireland in 2001 and has represented the Republic at various under age levels. Signed from Kilkenny City last year, Dave is an ambitious, hard-working midfielder. Left full : Robbie joined Shamrock Rovers last year from Kildare County. Playing at left-full, he formed part of an impressive back four who gave away just thirteen goals during the league campaign, a club record. He missed just one game throughout the season – away to Dundalk – the crucial goal he scored in the FAI Cup quarter final away to Athlone Town proved that his talents are not just confined to defence. Former St. Pat’s player who began his acquaintance with Pat Scully after he arrived at Buckley Park on loan from Richmond Park. A left winger, Davie is a strong, quick player with an eye for goal. He played his schoolboy football at Cherry Orchard where he won Premier League honours as well as three All Ireland Cups, two League Cups and an FAI Youth Cup. Davie is from Tallaght. Midfield : One of three players from Dublin City FC who joined the Hoops following the shock collapse of the Vikings in July 2006. Paul was born in Clones and played for Monaghan United at both schoolboy and senior level for twelve years. He had been with Dublin City for a year and a half before he came to Shamrock Rovers. A central midfielder, Paul didn’t see as much action as he might have wished as injuries curtailed his progress. Date of birth: 19.04.80

Centre half : Joined Shamrock Rovers just this year. Having made his debut in the League with his native Bray Wanderers in 2000, the County Wicklow club competed to get his signature on paper for the 2007 season but to his credit Dan committed himself to Rovers even before their place in the new FAI Premier League was confirmed. Dan previously played for Longford Town and also spent a couple of seasons at Drogheda United before that. Scored in the pre-season friendly away to Kilkenny City. Date of birth: 28.09.80.

Barry is one of Rovers' new signings this season having come from rivals Bohemians with whom he spent just one season. Barry was once on the books of Coventry City before coming back to Ireland to link up with Longford Town for whom he captained FAI Cup and League Cup winning teams during his three years at the midlands club. Barry is a versatile performer and his experience in the Premier Division has added considerable strength to the squad. Date of birth: 07.09.79.

Midfield : Eric made his debut in the FAI Cup second round game away to Castlebar in late May 2006. As a member of the youths team, Eric impressed Pat Scully throughout the season and his battling performances with the Under 21 team in the pre-season tournament for that league earned him a call up to the first team squad. Forward : This Carlow based lad made his debut when he came on as a sub in the closing stages of the game in Athlone on 16th March 2006. Padraig has come out of the ranks of our schoolboys where he has built a reputation for himself as a regular marksman. Earlier this year he was honoured in his home county when he was presented with the Carlow Sportsperson of the Year Award for soccer. Forward : Tadhg is in his second spell at Rovers having played for the Under 21 team back in 2003 - when he was just seventeen. He played schoolboy football on the same team as goalkeeper Barry Murphy at Leicester Celtic. Tadhg left Rovers to take up the offer of a one-year schlorship at UCD and made contact with Mark Dempsey at Kilkenny City at the beginning of 2005 in a move that was to see him play for the 'Cats'. Forward : An experienced and well-travelled player in the eircom League with a proven goal-scoring record. Andy always wanted to don the green and white jersey as his family have always been keen supporters of Shamrock Rovers. He has repaid Scully's faith in him by scoring on a regular basis and the Hoops' fans now consider him to be one of their favourites, so much so they sing that he is indestructible to the tune of a well-known Spandu Ballet song. Dave was one of a number of signings made by Pat Scully this year as the Hoops boss shopped around during the summer. He joined Rovers from Bray Wanderers but was at Shelbourne before that.
