Ronan Finn - fabulous equalising goal
Two brilliant strikes from Mark Quigley in the first-half and Ronan Finn early in the second meant that Rovers had to settle for a share of the points in a dramatic encounter at a packed Tallaght Stadium.
There was an explosive start to the game with barely a minute on the clock Gary McCabe slipped the ball in for Tommy Stewart in space on the left hand side of the box and he shot first time but Rogers in the Sligo goal advanced to beat away the ball. The visitors hit back straight away and Millien turned Sives on the left hand side of the box but Jansson was well placed to save.
Gary McCabe hit a free-kick from 25 yards out not far wide on 7 minutes and two minutes later he crossed from the left to the back post but a defender got a head to the ball just before Gary Twigg. The game settled down and the visitors began to hold the ball well while Rovers were guilty of not holding possession.
On 21 minutes Colin Hawkins made a fine defensive header and Oscar Jansson took Gaynor's corner easily. The Rovers 'keeper then saved Ventre's long range effort. Gilbert did well to stop Bocco's progress in the box on 27 minutes and Jansson was called on to punch away Ndo's corner.
[GOAL 0:1 - 32nd min.] The Hoops were punished when Ndo found Millien on the edge of the Hoops area and he chested the ball down for Mark Quigley to shoot on goal from 25 yards out and his sweetly struck volley beat Jansson and ended up in the top corner of the net.
Rovers tried to rally but couldn't create a decent opening and it was Sligo who almost went in at the break two goals up when Quigley headed across goal for Bocco to shoot from close range at the back post but Jansson spread himself to make a vital save.
Rovers had to get into the game quickly in the second-half and Brennan went close with a curling shot on 48 minutes.
[GOAL 1:1 - 49th min.] Ronan Finn raised the roof on Tallaght Stadium when the ball broke to him 25 yards out from goal and he unleashed an unstoppable shot that left Rogers helpless as it hit the back of the net.
The Hoops went looking for the lead and Gilbert's cross on 53 minutes saw Stewart flick the ball on goal but Rogers was on hand to save. At the other end Millien was causing trouble again but this time he shot wide after getting past Powell.
Good work from McCabe down the left saw him get to the bye-line and cut the ball back for Gary Twigg but the Scotsman failed to get a shot on goal. Sligo broke quickly up the pitch and Jansson got a vital touch outside his box as Millien chased a long ball.
A good interception from Hawkins denied Connely on 67 minutes and at the other end Finn attacked the box on the right but his cross was too high for Twigg at the back post.
Millien again ran at the Hoops defence and this time he got past Sives after 73 minutes on the left and Jnsson was relieved to see his shot roll across the goalmouth.
Rovers kept trying to open the Sligo defence up and when McCabe slipped the ball in for Gilbert in the box he saw his low cross well defended by McGuinness. The ball eventually fell to Powell outside the box but he shot over the bar.
With three minutes remaining Finn and Kavanagh combined to lay the ball off for Kilduff in a central position inside the area and the Hoops substitute turned on goal and shot first time but a defenders leg got a touch to the ball to deflect it just over the bar.
In the three minutes of added-on time Rovers forced a corner and a long throw-in from Rice but both times the Sligo defence held firm.
