Gary McCabe...two goals for Rovers
The Hoops had to come back from a goal down to get the better of the Seagulls in Tallaght Stadium. The visitors were reduced to 10 men after 35 minutes and Gary McCabe netted twice to add to Rohan Ricketts first goal for the club and a goal each from Ronan Finn and Gary Twigg.
On a blustery and wet day in Tallaght the Hoops didn't have the best of starts with Bray creating the first chance on 9 minutes when Dempsey's free-kick was swept over the bar by Houston.
A minute later Bray 'keeper Quigley had to punch O'Neills looping header away from under his post but Bray had another opportunity when Turner gifted Murphy the ball but Murray blocked his shot and Kelly fired the rebound wide.
On 20 minutes a fine free-kick from Ricketts on the left went across the Bray goal and Quigley got to the ball before Paterson.
Rovers went behind on 26 minutes when a Dempsey corner was punched away by Brush and the ball fell to Jake Kelly just outside the box on the right and he dispatched a fine volley into the corner of the net.
Rovers tried to get an equaliser and on 32 minutes a good cross from McCormack was met by the head of Gary Twigg but he guided his header wide.
Another McCormack delivery just 3 minutes later found Gary McCabe in front of goal but he placed his header wide.
Bray were reduced to 10 men a minute later when Shane O'Connor clashed with McCabe and he received his second yellow of the game from Ref. Winter.
Dan Murray shot wide from inside the area after good work by Pat Sullivan and on 39 minutes McCabe slipped a fine ball to Twigg in the box but Quigley advanced to save.
Ricketts then played Twigg in on goal but Quigley saved with his feet this time. Pat Sullivan blocked a good effort from Kelly before Rovers finally claimed the equaising goal just before half-time.
Gary Twigg's cross fell to the edge of the area and Ronan Finn found McCabe in space in the box and he duly smashed the ball into the back of the net.
Rovers were ahead just five minutes after the break when McCabe was fouled just outside the box on the left-hand side and Rohan Ricketts curled his shot through a number of bodies in the box and into the corner of the net.
Pat Sullivan blocked a shot from Dempsey after Dan Murray mis-placed his defensive header on 55 minutes. Ricketts then sent Twigg on a run into the box but Quigley was fast off his line to clear.
Rovers increased their lead with a goal of real quality on 58 minutes. Pat Sullivan sent a diagonal ball that McCabe controlled before passing to Twigg. The Scotsman made space and returned the pass to McCabe who ran at the defence and cut-in on the right to fire a shot past Quigley.
On 68 minutes Gary O'Neill did well in midfield to control the ball and then send Finn in on goal and the Hoops number 21 was coolness personified as he shot past Quigley and int the net.
Bray kept attacking and Richard Brush was called on twice to race from his line to claim the ball as Houston and then Kelly broke into the Hoops area.
Gary Dempsey then forced Brush to tip over his well taken free-kick from 25 yards on 75 minutes. On 81 minutes Gary Twigg beat a couple of defenders to race in on goal but his shot went wide of Quigley's right-hand post.
Twigg then hit the side-netting when he ran on to a pass from Stevens and Turner shot narrowly wide from just outside the area.
Rovers got their fifth on 90 minutes when Billy Dennehy fired in a good cross to the back post and Gary Twigg was on hand to head the ball past Quigley.
The impressive Kelly got a consolation goal for Bray in the dying minutes when he finished off a fine attacking move by clipping the ball over the advancing Hoops keeper and into the net.
