Bray Wanderers made it two wins over Rovers this season with a strike from number 11 Jake Kelly in the second half.

A very blustery evening saw the Hoops play into the breeze in the first half and Karl Sheppard tried his luck from 25 yards after 7 mins but Gregg saw the ball go wide of his post.

Rovers wona couple of free-kicks and a corner in the opening 12 mins but never troubled the Bray defence.

The home side had their first chance on 13 mins but Danny O'Connor saw his shot from the right go wide. Stephen Rice pierced the home defence with a low ball on 14 mins but a defender got to the ball before Gary O'Neill.

The conditions were causing difficulties for both sides but Rovers struggled to pass the ball on the ground. On 20 mins Kelly skipped past Dan Murray on the left and his low cross saw Mulroy just fail to make contact in front of goal.

A Conor McCormack free-kick fell for Pat Sullivan 25 yards out and his first time volley worried Gregg in the Bray goal but the ball just missed the target.

A good move by Rovers on 28 mins saw Rice find Gary Twigg in space on the right-hand side of the box but his curling effort went narrowly wide.

Bray had a great chance on 36 mins but Doyle hit the side-netting from the right-hand angle of the six-yard box. Kelly had an even better opportunity on 42 mins but miss-hit his first effort and when the ball fell to him again in front of goal he shot over the bar.

The Hoops raised their game jsut before the break and Dempsey denied Twigg a run on goal before O'Neill crossed low but Dennehy couldn't get a decisive touch.

The second-half began with Stephen Rice losing th ball on the edge of his own box but luckily Shields shot wide. Billy Dennehy then had two free-kicks from almost the same spot on the right-hand side of the area but he failed to get his shots on target.

Rovers best chance came after 52 mins when Dan Murrays long ball fell nicely for O'Neill and he beat the advancing 'keeper only to see the ball trickle past the post.

On 58 mins a good low cross from O'Neill on the left saw Twigg set up Dennehy but he shot straight at Gregg. Sullivan went close with a shot from 25 yards on the hour but the home side had the lead within 5 mins.

Dempsey found himself in space outside the box and he slipped the ball through for Kelly to guide his shot past the diving Alan Mannus and into the corner of the net.

Rovers responded and when O'Neill yet again crossed low into the area for Dennehy to make contact only the boot of Prendergast kept the ball off target.

On 77 mins substitute Gary McCabe crossed for Dan Murray in front of goal but his header went over the bar. Two mins later a fine cross from McCormack saw Gary Twigg glance the ball on goal but Gregg was well placed to save.

Twigg was flagged offside as he ran on to Dennehys header on 83 mins to flick the ball over Gregg. Rovers had plenty of high balls into the area as Ken Oman was pushed forward but the Bray defence stood firm and cleared everything.

Gary McCabes high ball inot the area was well claimed by Gregg on 90 mins and four mins into added-on time a Dennehy free-kick was headed across the box by Oman and Gary Twigg retrieved the ball and crossed for Alan Mannus to get two headers into the box but the ball wouldn't fall to a Rovers player and Bray cleared just as the final whistle sounded.
