The Hoops staged a remarkable comeback to snatch a point from the jaws of defeat with Ronan Finn's header in the last minute. Keith Buckley had given the Gypsies the lead on 72 mins and Gary McCabe got himself sent off for dissent with 10 mins remaining.

Rovers started with the same eleven that won in Sligo last Monday but it was the home side that took the early initiative with Flood winning a free-kick off Ken Oman and Brennan's strike was on target but Alan Mannus saved easily.

Mannus had to palm away a corner from Brennan on 12 mins while at the other end a Finn free-kick on the right was met by the head of Oman but the ball went just over the bar.

On 19 mins a back pass bobbled in front of Mannus and fortunately only went for a corner but the Hoops 'keeper showed no signs of nerves as he confidently claimed the resulting kick.

A McCormack corner on 21 mins saw Kelly make space for himself in the box but he headed over the bar. Kelly then tried to set up O'Neill on the half-hour but O'Connor advanced to claim the ball.

Gary O'Neill pounced on O'Connor's miss-kick on 32 mins but Heary cleared his low cross into the box. Finn then ran across the Bohs area but he just failed to thread the ball through to Kelly.

Rovers finished the half better but couldn't take advantage of some crosses from Sullivan and Sheppard. Gary O'Neill dragged his shot wide from Stevens pass right on the whistle.

Rovers had more of the possession in the second-half and on 53 mins a McCormack free-kick saw Oman meet the ball but his looping header went over the bar.

A Sullivan cross was well taken by O'Connor on 55 mins and three mins later Kelly could only hit the wall from a free-kick just outside the area after O'Neill was tripped.

At the other end Anto Flood flashed his shot across Alan Mannus's goal. On 65 mins a deep cross from Sullivan saw Kelly head the ball back into the six-yard area but Sheppard's header was straight at O'Connor.

Rovers continued to press forward and Sheppard's good run and cross was well defended and Finn's shot from outside the area was saved by O'Connor.

Finn set up Sullivan to cross on 69 mins but Burns headed clear and O'Connor claimed Sheppard's follow-up cross.

As the game entered the 71st minute a clumsy challenge from Stevens conceded a free-kick on the Bohs right and Brennan's shot saw Mannus dive to his right to push away the ball for a corner. Brennan then took the kick to the back post and Burns saw his header pushed onto the cross-bar by Mannus but Buckley was on hand to force the ball into the net.

Rovers almost hit back immediately but Kelly's header from McCormack's corner hit O'Neill in front of goal. Burns again defended a dangerous cross into the box before substitute McCabe raced forward to cross for Sheppard to tee up O'Neill to shoot but his effort was straight at O'Connor.

When Gary McCabe showed dissent to a Linesman following a decision against him Referee Buttimer showed him a straight Red card to the dismay of the Hoops fans in the Shed end.

Kilduff was introduced for Captain Murray with six minutes remaining but the Bohs defence dealt with the Hoops attack with Heary blocking O'Neill's shot and Finn saw the ball hooked away from him as he chased a header from Dennehy.

In the last minute of the four minutes of added-on time Karl Sheppard forced a corner and Conor McCormack delivered a fine cross into the area that saw Alan Mannus and Ronan Finn jump for the ball and the ex-Fingal man steered his header across O'Connor and into the top corner of the net to salvage a point in front of the Rovers fans.
