Ken Oman Partnered Pat Flynn in central defence
The Hoops received a warm welcome in Lisburn and left with a commanding lead in this first-leg thanks to three goals from new signings Karl Sheppard, Ciaran Kilduff and Dean Kelly.
Stephen O'Donnell went close with a free-kick from 25 yards after 4 minutes before a McShane fee-kick caused some problems for the Hoops defence.
The Lisburn side saw Brown's shot blocked for a corner on 15 minutes but Oman cleared the resulting kick. Kilduff then went close with a header from Kavanagh's cross on 17 minutes.
A wayward Rice header from Rice saw number 18 shoot on target for Distillery but Thompson saved. O'Donnell then took a short corner from Sheppard to cut in on the right but he fired his shot across goal.
Rovers upped the tempo of the game and Kavanagh forced 'keeper Matthews into a fine save on 31 minutes and the resulting corner was scrambled to safety.
The home 'keeper made another fine stop a minute later when Kavanagh cut in from the left to set up Sheppard in the box.
However on 35 minutes O'Donnell set up Sheppard to shoot again from just outside the area and this time a deflection took it past the 'keeper to give Rovers the lead.
In the 39th minute the home side had a golden opportunity to level the score when Davidson was released in the box but Thompson raced from his line to block his shot. Within a minute the Hoops extended their lead when Kilduff made space for himself in the box to shoot past Matthews.
The second half statted with Kilduff heading wide and Sheppard shooting straight at the 'keeper. However the home side hit back with Thompson beating away Davidson's shot from outside the area.
Just after the hour the Rovers goalkeeper struggled to push away a shot from Distillery's number 18 and he was under pressure again a couple of minutes later from a high free-kick into the area as the home side enjoyed their best spell of pressure.
However the Hoops wrapped up the game with a neat move started by Kilduff who swept the ball to Sheppard who in turn fed Sullivan on the overlap and his cross was expertly headed into the bottom corner of the net by Kelly.
Distillery were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when Cooling was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle.
Rovers finished strongly with Kavanagh taking Sullivan's long pass on the left to force a save from Matthews and the home 'keeper was called into action again in the last minute to beat away Kellys shot from inside the area.
