Despite Refereee Winters two second-half red cards this was an uneventful pre-season workout for the Hoops.
Ryan Thompson started in goal for Rovers but it was his Jamaican colleague Akeem Priestly that drew an early save from Mons 'keeper Sava after a counter attack. Dean Kelly stretched to meet Anto Murphy's cross on 8 mins but couldn't direct the ball on target.
Foley blasted a shot just wide for the visitors before Turner went on a good run into the Mons area but couldn't find a Rovers player with his cross.
On 13 mins the visitors almost scored when Reilly crossed for Barrett to stoop low to head the ball wide of Thompsons goal from six-yards out.
On 19 mins Karl Sheppard tried to get on the end of Murphys cross in front of goal but he was unable to make proper contact.
On 28 mins two good crosses in succession by Reilly needed clearances by Murray and Thompson. The visitors again threatened on 31 mins but Brennans shot was blocked by fellow Mons player Reilly in front of goal.
Kellys shot on 33 mins was deflected for a corner which Murray rose to meet but Sheppard couldn't help his header on target.
Just before the break Kellys free-kick was blocked by the wall and the ball fell to McCormack on the right and he forced a decent save from Sava.
The second-half was only three mins old when Kelly saw a straight Red card for a tackle on Foley, who had to be stretchered off.
The game failed to move out of second gear as Monaghan were unable to take advantage of the extra man. On 69 mins a nice through ball from Priestly forced Sava to race out of his area to head clear from Sheppard.
Rovers best chance of the half came when Stevens deep cross was met by Sheppard at the back post but his header hit the cross-bar.
Turner fired a shot just wide as the game petered out but with two mins remaining Connor McCormack took Priestly's ball in the area and he caught a defender as he stretched to make contact with the ball. Ref. Winters adjudged this to be a straight red card and Rovers finished the game with nine men.
