Chris Turner Smashed home Rovers winner...
Rovers took their place in this years Ford FAI Cup final thanks to a goal from Chris Turner after the Saints were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute.
The atmosphere was fantastic inside Richmond Park as the game started at a frantic pace with Doyle shooting over the bar for St Pats and Turner having a shot blocked in the opening minutes.
Enda Stevens failed to cut out a cross and McAllister drilled in a low shot that Mannus saved after 7 minutes and on 15 minutes Captain Rice won possession and the ball fell for Dennehy but Rogers saved his shot.
A great run by Tommy Stewart on 21 minutes saw him cross for Twigg to shot across goal and Dennehy sliding in at the back post almost scored the opener.
In the 24th minutes Craig Sives blocked a shot inside the area before Alan Mannus made a great catch from Kenna's cross. A Baker free-kick saw Turner cross but Rogers claimed the ball well.
Baker set up Stewart with a fine pass but Pender did enough to block the Hoops winger. On 31 minutes Guy headed wide for the Saints when well placed in the box and at the other end a Baker free-kick was headed across goal by Sives but the ball was cleared.
Another Baker free-kick on 38 minutes wasn't claimed by Rogers but no Rovers player was on hand to take advantage. Rovers were on top in the game but had a lucky escape when North showed some pace up the right hand side and he sent the ball low across goal but Guy just failed to connect with the ball.
The dying minutes of the half saw Sives made a great block while Baker almost released Twigg on goal. Baker then sent in a deep cross but Rogers again rose to make a fine catch. Lynch then whipped in a good free-kick across the Hoops box but fortunately it ran away to safety.
The second-half continued in the same vein and Baker did well to set up Dennehy but Rogers saved his shot on the turn.
The Hoops almost took the lead on 51 minutes when a Stewart cross saw Turner head the ball in Bakers direction and he looped his header over Rogers but the Saints 'keeper somehow got back to claw the ball away.
The game exploded in the 53rd minutes as Damien Lynch fouled Gary Twigg as he bore down on goal and Referee Connolly showed him a straight Red card. Dessie Baker then fired the resultant free-kick on the edge of the area just wide.
The home side responded with Guy shooting straight at Mannus from 20 yards but Rovers began to dominate proceedings and Flynn shot over before Stevens tested Rogers with a shot from outside the box.
Pat Flynn went on a good run on 66 minutes but he failed to get a shot on goal. However the Hoops fans erupted when on 70 minutes Gary Twigg chested a ball into the box for Turner to smash his shot past Rogers and into the corner of the net.
The home side then brought on Faherty and threw caution to the wind and Mannus made a fine catch from Guy's cross on 72 minutes. Kenna then headed over a Cash free-kick before Rovers took some pressure off by keeping the ball and running down the clock.
However the home side continued to push forward and again Mannus had to be alert to claim a cross in the 86th minute and although the final 4 minutes of added-on time was hard on the nerves the Hoops defence cleared everything that came their way and Rovers claimed a place in this year's Ford FAI Cup final.
