Two more goals for
Gary Twigg

It took a while for this game to get going but in the end it was the Hoops that emerged victorious as a second-half brace from Gary Twigg gave the Hoops all three points.

The visitors had a decent start to the game with Duggan saving Cawleys free-kick after 4 mins and Duggan recovered after fumbling Byrnes shot on 15 mins. The Hoops gradually got into the game and Rogers did well to gather a cross from Rice before O'Connor and Twigg combined but Cameron shot well wide. By the 30 min. mark the Hoops had delivered some decent crosses into the Pats area but the Saints defence stood firm. Rovers almost took the lead on 36 mins when Baker's corner was met at the back post by Webb but his header was inches wide.

However the Saints responded within a minute and Ryan Guy raced past the Hoops defence and shot past Duggan but much to the delight of the home fans the ball hit the inside of the post and Quigleys follow-up shot went over the bar. In the 38th minute a great turn and shot by Twigg saw the ball crash against the Pats cross-bar as the game finally exploded into life. A minute later an O'Connor free-kick fell to Twigg in the area but he dragged his shot wide of the post from inside the area. Rovers continued to push for the remainder of the half but couldn't find the breakthrough.

Rovers started the second-half on a more positive note and a good move in the 50th minute saw Baker feed Robinson and his cross was blocked for a corner. A short corner saw O'Connor cross for Robinson to stoop to head the ball on to Twigg and the Scotsman controlled the ball before knocking it past Rogers for the opening goal.

Rovers were well on top now but Madden was called upon to check Ryans run into the box and clear the danger. In the 57th minute a cross into the box was won by Quigley and his header hit Robert Duggan's right hand post. The Saints continued to push and Quigley shot high and over on 62 minutes when in a good position. Duggan saved well from O'Connor on 69 mins but the Linesman had raised his flag.

Rovers wrapped up the points on 74 mins with a fine goal. Bradley and Cameron were involved as the ball was played to Baker at the edge of the area and his flick sent Twigg away in the box and he brushed away the challenge of Harris before shooting past Rogers.

The visitors tried in vain to get back into the game with Gavin sending his header narrowly wide on 83 mins but substitute Amond had a chance with a minute remaining as he raced towards goal but he delayed his shot and the ball was cleared.
